Conveyancing R US Pty Ltd (CRU) appreciates that privacy is important to you and is committed to respecting the privacy of your personal information. This covers all information which identifies you as an individual or from which your identity can be reasonably ascertained.
Collection of Personal Information
The information that CRU collects will depend on the circumstances – for example, we may collect your personal information when you:
• instruct us to provide a legal service to you;
• attend a seminar organised by CRU; or
• have business dealings with us (whether as one of our suppliers or in the context of a transaction).
Using your personal information:
CRU will use personal information collected for the primary purpose for which it is collected, namely to undertake the work you have instructed us to do on your behalf.
The use of personal information remains confidential at all times. Our staffs are bound by the strict duties of confidentiality to its clients. The collection and use of personal information will only be done in compliance with this Statement. We shall request your consent, in writing if necessary, if it is collected or used in any other way. In some circumstances, consent to the collection and use of personal information may be implied. For instance, where an individual gives us information after being fully advised of how it will be used.
Disclosure of Personal Information:
CRU does not sell or trade personal information or allow third parties to use that personal information for their own purposes. There may be occasions where external contractors or suppliers will need to assist our office with information handling, for instance, off-site storage or electronic database management. Any information accessed by third parties, will be limited access and we ensure that those suppliers and contractors are also bound by duties of confidentiality and privacy. We also request that our clients confirm that they have made their own disclosures or obtained consents before they pass any personal information to our office.
Security of personal information:
CRU takes reasonable steps to ensure the security of your personal information. Our premises are in a secure building with 24 hour security system. Our IT systems are password protected. However, whilst we will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, data transmission over the internet cannot be guaranteed as completely secure.
It is our policy to destroy all personal information once there is no longer a legal or business need to retain that information. Although our IT systems are password protected and whilst we will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, the use of electronic mail is not private given the nature of technology. It is possible that e-mail that is transmitted over the internet can be viewed, copied or amended with the requisite skill. Accordingly, if you are concerned about the confidentiality of any correspondence to our office, you should consider communicating by normal post, over the telephone or by facsimile.
Access to and correction of personal information:
If you wish to access the personal information that CRU holds about you, please set out your request in writing, and forward this to our CRU Privacy Officer with your proof of identification, to the address set out below.
To provide you with access to your personal information held by us on our current records, CRU can provide you with a copy of the relevant personal information (ordinarily, an electronic print-out or a photocopy).
If you believe personal information about you that we hold is inaccurate or out of date, or if you have any other queries about access and correction, please contact our CRU Privacy Officer using the contact details set out below.
CRU will not charge you for the cost of providing this type of access to these current records.
Cookies:
We may use cookies on our website to maintain user sessions (e.g. if you subscribe to the site to gain access to a publication, we use cookies so when you next visit you do not need to re-enter your details). Like most web site providers, we generate statistics about how many people visit our site and what they look at. We use web logs and cookies to do this. This enables us to keep our site relevant and useful. However, generally this information will not identify you.
